Sim2Real Lab

Learning + job-market data for Physical AI

From graphs and CPU registers to robot arms and drone swarms.

Sim2Real Lab shows how the computer science you already know maps to real robotics problems, and which robotics skills public job ads ask for. Phase 0 is simulation only and costs $0. Add hardware one phase at a time, only if you want to.

Four pillars

One place to learn the ideas, practise them and read the job market.

  • 3-tier curriculum

    In build

Each concept at three depths: intuition, algorithms and code, then math and research. The first module takes graph algorithms you know and applies them to robot motion and multi-robot tasks.

    • Tier 1: intuition
    • Tier 2: algorithms and code
    • Tier 3: math and research
  • Simulation-first lab track

    Planned

Every lab starts in a simulator, so you need no hardware to learn. Versions for real kits follow for people who own one.

    • Simulator first
    • Real-kit version second
    • Free simulators, publicly sold kits
  • Job market radar

    In build

Counts which robotics skills appear in public job ads and links to each original ad. It shows market data. It does not promise any result.

    • Skill counts from public ads
    • Link to every original ad
    • Sources and dates shown
  • Interview practice

    Planned

Practice tasks written by our team and mapped to the skills the radar counts, with a starter repository for each task.

    • Tasks written by us
    • Mapped to radar skills
    • Starter repository per task

Phase timeline

Four phases. Buy hardware only when simulation says you are ready.

Phase 0 is free and needs no hardware. Later phases are optional. Budgets are rough hardware estimates for that phase.

  1. Phase 0$0

    Simulation

Kinematics, planning and control in a physics simulator.

    No hardware. Free simulators.

    Simulation only
  2. Phase 1≈ $320

    Desktop robot arm

Teleoperate, record demonstrations, train a policy and run it on the arm.

SO-ARM101 leader + follower pair (one working arm, teleoperation): about $310 as a DIY bundle (motors, printed parts, one camera), plus a second camera (about $12).

    Simulation-first
  3. Phase 2≈ $660

    Edge AI + mobile base

Run small models on the robot and meet a latency budget with ROS 2 and real-time C++.

Jetson Orin Nano Super developer kit (about $399) and a LeKiwi mobile base (about $179), plus cameras and a microSD card, reusing the Phase 1 arm.

    Simulation-first
  4. Phase 3≈ $3,100

    Small indoor drone swarm

Formation and coverage tasks indoors, with safety limits on every flight.

Four Crazyflie 2.1 Brushless drones with Lighthouse positioning, an AI-deck and LED decks. About three drones without the AI-deck fit in $2,500. The AI-deck was out of stock when we checked.

    Simulation-first
